The secret to playing piano songs on guitar is finding the chords, and weve found them for you. Today, were going to look at John Legends All of Me chords and take them from the piano to the guitar.
Sometimes songs are written on the piano in a key that is terrible for guitar in the sense that none of the chords are very guitar-friendly.
- Well also make sure that we use a set of chords that are playable on the guitar for beginning to intermediate players.
- Youll play the song in a friendly key with friendly chord shapes.
- Lets learn how to play these All of Me chords! Well start with a little bit about the songs background.
Lean On Me Bill Withers
Lean on Me is an absolute classic from the legendary Bill Withers. Its a heartwarming tune and one of the easiest songs to learn on piano.
The verses have a beautiful diatonic melody that moves up and down the scale, landing on target notes. Diatonic means that it moves from one note to another, playing the notes of the scale that are in between the two.
When these diatonic runs come up, they are often mirrored by the left hand. So, Lean on Me is a fantastic way to practice playing both hands in sync.
There are times when the left hand plays diatonic runs, but the melody doesnt. That means you have to get used to going between playing both hands in sync and independently.
Its a song that provides an awesome practice routine without feeling like practice. If you get past the simple arrangement, you can play chords in the right hand for the verses instead of simple notes. Just make sure you keep the melody note at the top of the chord.

What To Look For In Beginner Piano Songs
If you want to look for easy piano songs to impress without going over your skills, here are some helpful qualities to look for:
- Repetitive parts
- Not jumping around with your hands
- Songs that can be simplified
- Repeated left hand parts
- Single line right hand parts
All of the songs on this list have these elements to some degree.
The Key Of A Flat Major
To start off, lets review the basics about sharps and flats. A sharp in music is when you raise a note by a half step, represented by a #. Conversely, a flat simply takes the note down a half step, marked by a b.
This is a song thats in Ab major, meaning the home note is at Ab. The home or root note of a key signature is almost always where the song will end its the note that feels conclusive and resolves the chord progression or melodic line.
Take a look at your piano or keyboard and locate the Ab key. Its an easy one to find because its the black key right in the middle of the set of three black keys.
There are four flats in the key of Ab major, which tells you that those four notes will always be flattened rather than playing their natural version each and every time unless the chords or melody deviate from the key signature. Luckily, this song stays neatly within the rules of Ab major. The four flats in Ab major are Bb, Eb, Ab, and Db.
To get a sense of which notes are going to be the right notes and which ones to avoid, try practicing your Ab major scale:
Ab Bb C Db Eb F G Ab
Try playing your way up and down the Ab major scale until your fingers naturally go to the correct notes. The more you repeat this and master the fundamentals, the easier it will be for you to jump from chord to chord with confidence.
Now that youve gotten a firm handle on the scale for this song, its time to start learning the chords!

Bury a Friend is more about feeling and atmosphere more than anything else technically, its a basic song. That means the melody and harmony are very simple, so its technically easy to play.
It doesnt mean that it comes without any challenge, though.
Some people say playing fast is easy playing slow is harder. What that means is that when you play lots of notes quickly, you can hide behind them with very few notes and a slow tempo, theres nowhere to hide.
The challenge with this song is creating enough emotion and playing expressively with nowhere to hide. Learning that there is more to music than just playing the right notes is an invaluable lesson for any beginner.

To learn piano fast, you need to maximize your efforts so that no time is wasted. The first thing you need to know is the set of 12 white keys that repeats itself across your keyboard.
The best use of your time by far is to memorize those keys. They run from A to G just like the letters of the alphabet. Putting in the effort to really learn each of the 12 keys will save you lots of time later!
Once you know the names of all the white keys, black keys are next! Each black key has two names. That may sound confusing, but what you need to know is simple: Black keys to the right of white keys are sharp, and black keys to the left of white keys are flat. The Keys You Need To Know If You Want To Learn Piano Fast

The next thing we need to do is learn the names of the keys. You dont need to memorize all 88 keys, because we have these sections of 12 keys. They just repeat themselves over and over again across the entire keyboard.
So lets focus in on one of these sections and learn the names of the keys. The white key to the left of any two black notes is a C key. Then from there we continue down the alphabet and go the right on our keyboard so we have C, D, E, F, G. Now, the alphabet starts over after G in music, so were going to go ahead to A, and B. Next!
Theres our seven white keys. Lets learn the five black keys. Black keys are named by the white key they are next to, and they also have the word flat and sharp in them. The way this works is that a sharp is a black key just to the right of any white key, and a flat is the black key to the left of any white key.
So for example, right here weve got C sharp, and then this is also called D flat. So every black key does have two names.
